Under The Rain
by Virginia Earl

She sat under the rain
Curled up as each drop
Washed away painful tears
But held onto teardrops of hope…
...Of the love she once knew
She never looked up once
---
She sat under the rain
Curled up as if each drop
Protected her from the pain
As it washed it all away
Until several hands reached
Through the curtain of rain
As if wanting to rescue her
---
But she sat still and waited
And as the water rose
She waited and waited…
For the right hand to pull her away
While the rain washed it all away
She waited and waited...
For the hand of the soul she once knew
