PART 1: A Conversation With An Angel

by Virginia Earl

This is the story of a little girl who patiently waits for a special angelic being who has been assigned to guide her mommy's lost soul back to the only place she feels in her heart is her real home. Angel visits Little Girl and brings comfort to her while her mommy travels in and out of time.

A Prayer for A Key

A little girl
Sat by a window
Looking up and away into the sky
With a prayer in her heart
She closed her eyes
And asked the heavens and the stars
Why does my mommy cry?

A fallen angel whispered...

Angel: Nobody knows,
Except her heart.
Little Girl: Can you make the tears go away?
A: No.
LG: Can I make the tears go away?
A: No.
LG: Who can make the tears go away?
A: Only her heart knows.
LG: Will her heart tell me?
A: No.
LG: Why?
A: It’s the only secret she’s ever had.
LG: Why is it the only secret?
A: It’s the only thing nobody can take away from her.
It’s priceless.
And worth more than anything else you can ever imagine.
More than anything that you can see or touch.
It’s tucked away in her heart.
LG: Why is it tucked away in her heart?
Is there a key to get it out?
A: Yes.
LG: Where is it?
A: Only she knows.
LG: Will she give it to me?
A: No.
LG: Why not?
Only one person has the key?
Do you know who this person is?
A: No.
LG: How can I find out who this person is?
A: You can’t.
LG: Why?
A: Remember, it’s a secret?
It’s been tucked away in her heart for many, many years.
LG: I will never know…?
A: No.
LG: Unless someone finds the key.
A: What will happen if nobody finds the key?
Will my mommy cry forever?
A: Yes.
LG: Angel, tell me, tell me, how can I make the tears go away?
I don’t want my mommy to cry forever.
I don’t want my mommy to die of a broken heart.
A: Pray every day my little girl with all your heart and soul.
LG: How?
A: Pray for the key to be found soon.
And when the time is right,
All the tears will flow away.
Some will remain but they will be tears of joy.
She will be happy once again.
Somewhere in time.
LG: Promise?
A: I do.

A Numb Heart

by Virginia Earl

As time goes by
Everything rearranges
Yet through the years
Nothing changes
Dreams come and go
Like sweet summer rain
Trickling down nameless faces

As time goes by
Nobody knows
What she’s really, really feeling
Inside her numb heart
As time goes by
She waits asunder
While whispering winds
Steal her thunder
Watching falling shadows
Kissing into the night
